My approach is to empower you to gain a greater level of self-understanding and awareness. I believe inherently you understand yourself better than anyone else, so my role is to offer tools, techniques and processes to help and encourage you to tap into your own strengths, resources and innate potential, to assist in understanding yourself more fully. In this way, guided by you, we can explore together what holds meaning for you and develop a way to move forward in the best way possible.

This may incorporate traditional counselling, art therapy and/or transpersonal art therapy.

Each can be used separately or blended to suit your requirements during our sessions. In this way, you are able to choose and explore in a way that is a comfortable fit for you.

Why use art?

Art is a natural language of its own that can express often what words can’t and offers a powerful tool for connection, communication, self-care and wellbeing.

We can all create. We have been using images, marks and symbols as a form of expression for millions of years. The need to create and express is innate within us and can be very transformative and healing.

Through the use of art materials, you can express and explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a safe supportive way.

Do I need to be artistic?

Not at all. It’s purely about using the creative process as a tool to express yourself, explore and reflect on where you’re at, rather than critiquing or judging the end product. There is no “right or wrong,” just what is right and unique to you, based on your response to your experience.

The word “transpersonal” means “beyond the person”.

Transpersonal art therapy offers a way to make meaning of your life and find purpose through the fusion of mainstream psychology and holistic therapy.

Transpersonal Art Therapy:

Transpersonal Art Therapy often incorporates practices such as meditation, mindfulness, breathing and guided imagery to embrace the present moment, tap into our intuitive self and assist in connecting the imagination to the body. This helps to become still internally, make space, feel into and listen to our inner landscape.

This allows for the expression of feelings, emotions, thoughts and motivations to unfold and emerge through the creative/art making process. In turn, this can enhance mind-body-spirit connection, assisting us to explore and reflect on those things that might otherwise remain concealed in our inner world or unconscious self, revealing new findings and possibilities for self-realisation, insight, understanding, personal meaning and support.

Transpersonal art therapy provides a holistic way to assist in connecting to your essential nature, wisdom and authentic self to explore, uncover, unlock and find your path to possibility.
